As many of you are aware, in Shu Ha Ri Do I teach movements that I call COMS or Combat Maneuvers. Each movement is a street ready combination that I put together in 1998. Before the black belt phases there are 7 core phases of Shu Ha Ri Do. All phases except phase 3 the grappling phase, contain Combat Maneuvers. In this video you will see a demonstration of COM #4.

A DAY OF BOXING AND FOOT WORK.

If you are familiar with Shu Ha Ri Do then you are already aware that along with everything else I also teach conventional boxing. In phase one students are introduced to the 10 count of “Flex Fist Boxing” and the 10 count of conventional boxing. In phase two along with a host of other techniques students go deeper into the science of conventional boxing. Things like timing, footwork, head movement, and much more. In this video you will see mitt work with students going through different punch counts, and a little bit of our footwork drills at the end.

On test day sparring is an important part of judging a student’s application of technique. In this video 3 white belts testing for Gold belt, squared off against each other testing their skill with strikes to the body only, in the Shu Ha Ri Do version of “Bull In The Ring”.

Although in styles many of us have trained in like Muay Thai,
MMA, etc, start in a fighting stance. I utilize the Man Sau
stance to teach my students how to generate power from the
ground without turning their shoulders.
