BE INSPIRED BY THE CHARACTER OF THE EAGLE. PHASE 4 OF SHU HA RI DO. THERE IS MUCH TO IMITATE

THE EAGLE

In Shu Ha Ri Do there are 7 phases. The fourth phase deals with animalistic obstervations and principles. I teach students animalistic fighting forms that I created in 1998. One of them is the bird, more specifically the eagle. The focus however, is not to simply fight with movements like an eagle, but to copy the useful character and nature of the eagle. In this post I outline some of the character traits.

THE ARE FEARLESS CREATURES

When confronted eagles will never surrender no matter the circumstances.

EAGLES HAVE VISION

Eagle is 4 to 5 times stronger than humans they can detect a prey nearly 2 miles away!

Are you short sighted with your life? What type of vision do you have?

THE ARE PRECISE

Nothing compares to the precision of we witness seeing an eagle snatch a fish out of the water!

EAGLES LOVE USING STORMS TO THEIR ADVANTAGE

Though most animals hide in fear during storms. Eagles actually get excited during storms using the winds to lift them high above it.

Do you see storms of life as breaking you down, destroying you? Or do you see them as opportunities for growth?

HIGH FLIERS

Eagles fly at high altitudes that no other birds can reach.

FAMILY PLANNING

Male and female eagles assume powerful roles during family planning. Once the female eagle chooses a high place in the cliffs out of reach of predators the male goes to work building the nest. Making several trips back and forth the male layers the surrounding areas of the cliff with thorns, grass, twigs, more thorns, grass and twigs. He continues this process until the surrounding area is impenetrable by predators and the nest is layer on the outside with thorns, and the inside with grass.

STREET READY TECHNIQUES, COM #4

As many of you are aware, in Shu Ha Ri Do I teach movements that I call COMS or Combat Maneuvers. Each movement is a street ready combination that I put together in 1998. Before the black belt phases there are 7 core phases of Shu Ha Ri Do. All phases except phase 3 the grappling phase, contain Combat Maneuvers. In this video you will see a demonstration of COM #4.

A DAY OF BOXING AND FOOT WORK.

If you are familiar with Shu Ha Ri Do then you are already aware that along with everything else I also teach conventional boxing. In phase one students are introduced to the 10 count of “Flex Fist Boxing” and the 10 count of conventional boxing. In phase two along with a host of other techniques students go deeper into the science of conventional boxing. Things like timing, footwork, head movement, and much more. In this video you will see mitt work with students going through different punch counts, and a little bit of our footwork drills at the end.

 SOCIAL MEDIA PITFALLS

Regarding social media you must understand that the world is not your personal playground. Just as you would not like to have the front

Even if you do know the person from your high school days or from the neighborhood it is always best to maintain a certain level of privacy and distance. For example everyone is not worthy of knowing:

1.Where you live (Stalking and other crimes)

2. Your luxury car (Stalking and other crimes)

3.Where you work (Stalking and other crimes)

4.Where you shop (Stalking and other crimes)

5.What vacation plans you have (this broadcasts that your house will be empty)
6.What the inside of your home looks like (blueprint for a robbery)

7.How many children your have and where they go to school (RANSOM)

8.How good looking your you or your wife or husband is (Strife in the relationship due to someone flirting with you or your wife or worse one of you entertaining the flirts)

Please understand that when you post something on the
internet it is there forever, and that there are so many opportunities to snoop, plan, trick, lie, and gather information that even people who are not criminals like the person you knew in tenth grade or that co-worker you used to say hi to can be tempted to engage in criminal behavior. So just imagine what a seasoned criminal can do with the information you give him.

My advice to you is to always remember that the world is not your playground, your focus should always be safety first, recognize threat indicators, process information, then determine whether you, or your family should engage in the activity in question or not. What the world tells you is “go have fun do what makes you happy Y.O.L.O” (you only live once) right? Well hopefully you can see the lack of wisdom in those statements. INSPIRING SHU HA RI DO TRAINING VIDEO

Just a little 1 minute clip of segments from a Shu Ha Ri Do training day with inspiring music in the background. The lyrics are “every single day, I’m gonna make something great, that’s my way”. Indeed it has been my way for the last 28 years striving to live a lifestyle worthy of following. A Kingdom lifestyle. All of my passion for learning and sharing righteous knowledge culminating in the creation of Shu Ha Ri Do in 1998. Talk radio shows, speaking engagements, 4 books, and over 700 students since that time. So, once again my focus was and still is to create something great everyday. Even if it’s a small ripple of goodness in the life of someone else I’ll accept it!

SHU HA RI DO COMBAT MANEUVERS (COMS) STREET READY TECHNIQUES

These techniques are called COMS or Combat Maneuvers. These are to be practiced repetitively. However, know this the idea is not that you will hit an opponent with every shot. That is not practical. Landing 2 or 3 shots is a more reasonable expectation. You train repetitively on all techniques for muscle memory. As a result when the opportunity presents itself your hands or feet hit by themselves…

SPARRING CLIPS

THE STORY OF HOW I CREATED SHU HA RI DO, AND MY MOTIVATION FOR WRITING AND TEACHING

WHAT WOULD YOU DO AGAINST AN OPPONENT THIS BIG???

Hello everyone, here is some food for thought for you. In this video you will see a matches of David versus Goliath (Hong-Min Choi)! Image result for el titan de laI have to tell you that in a tournament situation this kind of size is an unfair advantage. That does not meant that there has not been cases where “David” has won. However, if both had an equal amount of training and preparation, and have the same four limbs for weapons, there is one thing left for you to understand. SIZE IS ALSO A WEAPON, and we are not talking about a basic difference like 3 or 4 inches.

Just look at the video and you will see what I am saying here. In my view I would not get into a ring with someone as big as the person in the video. Not out of fear but out of realism. In the streets it would be a completely different situation, there are many things I could do from a combat perspective to equalize the situation. However, in a ring there are rules.

SPARRING CLIPS

Sparring is a somewhat friendly exchange of technique. It enables students to be able to practice applying what they learn in a somewhat “real time” scenario. In this video you will see some of that application.
