BE INSPIRED BY THE CHARACTER OF THE EAGLE. PHASE 4 OF SHU HA RI DO. THERE IS MUCH TO IMITATE

THE EAGLE

In Shu Ha Ri Do there are 7 phases. The fourth phase deals with animalistic obstervations and principles. I teach students animalistic fighting forms that I created in 1998. One of them is the bird, more specifically the eagle. The focus however, is not to simply fight with movements like an eagle, but to copy the useful character and nature of the eagle. In this post I outline some of the character traits.

THE ARE FEARLESS CREATURES

When confronted eagles will never surrender no matter the circumstances.

EAGLES HAVE VISION

Eagle is 4 to 5 times stronger than humans they can detect a prey nearly 2 miles away!

Are you short sighted with your life? What type of vision do you have?

THE ARE PRECISE

Nothing compares to the precision of we witness seeing an eagle snatch a fish out of the water!

EAGLES LOVE USING STORMS TO THEIR ADVANTAGE

Though most animals hide in fear during storms. Eagles actually get excited during storms using the winds to lift them high above it.

Do you see storms of life as breaking you down, destroying you? Or do you see them as opportunities for growth?

HIGH FLIERS

Eagles fly at high altitudes that no other birds can reach.

FAMILY PLANNING

Male and female eagles assume powerful roles during family planning. Once the female eagle chooses a high place in the cliffs out of reach of predators the male goes to work building the nest. Making several trips back and forth the male layers the surrounding areas of the cliff with thorns, grass, twigs, more thorns, grass and twigs. He continues this process until the surrounding area is impenetrable by predators and the nest is layer on the outside with thorns, and the inside with grass.

Phase 4 Animalistic Techniques The Fury of The Birds

THE STORY OF HOW I CREATED SHU HA RI DO, AND MY MOTIVATION FOR WRITING AND TEACHING

A DAY OF BOXING AND FOOT WORK.

If you are familiar with Shu Ha Ri Do then you are already aware that along with everything else I also teach conventional boxing. In phase one students are introduced to the 10 count of “Flex Fist Boxing” and the 10 count of conventional boxing. In phase two along with a host of other techniques students go deeper into the science of conventional boxing. Things like timing, footwork, head movement, and much more. In this video you will see mitt work with students going through different punch counts, and a little bit of our footwork drills at the end.

INSPIRING SHU HA RI DO TRAINING VIDEO

Just a little 1 minute clip of segments from a Shu Ha Ri Do training day with inspiring music in the background. The lyrics are “every single day, I’m gonna make something great, that’s my way”. Indeed it has been my way for the last 28 years striving to live a lifestyle worthy of following. A Kingdom lifestyle. All of my passion for learning and sharing righteous knowledge culminating in the creation of Shu Ha Ri Do in 1998. Talk radio shows, speaking engagements, 4 books, and over 700 students since that time. So, once again my focus was and still is to create something great everyday. Even if it’s a small ripple of goodness in the life of someone else I’ll accept it!

SHU HA RI DO COMBAT MANEUVERS (COMS) STREET READY TECHNIQUES

These techniques are called COMS or Combat Maneuvers. These are to be practiced repetitively. However, know this the idea is not that you will hit an opponent with every shot. That is not practical. Landing 2 or 3 shots is a more reasonable expectation. You train repetitively on all techniques for muscle memory. As a result when the opportunity presents itself your hands or feet hit by themselves…

Fighting stance transferring power to punches and strikes

SPARRING CLIPS

Sparring is a somewhat friendly exchange of technique. It enables students to be able to practice applying what they learn in a somewhat “real time” scenario. In this video you will see some of that application.

Generating power for striking II

In this video I show the first stance my students learn.
Although in styles many of us have trained in like Muay Thai,
MMA, etc, start in a fighting stance. I utilize the Man Sau
stance to teach my students how to generate power from the
ground without turning their shoulders.

Generating power for self defense striking

Generating power for self defense striking

Greetings everyone and thanks for stopping by again. In this video I will be sharing my concept for generating power from the ground upwards. It is a simple but effective explanation. Although this video is from a self defense perspective, the concept can be utilized for competition as well. I hope you find it helpful.

tested, proven principles. Feel free to subscribe, and share you thoughts.

FLEX FIST BOXING WILL INCREASE YOUR SPEED AND EXPLOSIVENESS GUARANTEED!

Greetings everyone and thanks for visiting my blog.  As you can already see

Shu Ha Ri Do is a martial arts system that I created in 1998. There are many

unique as well as conventional things about Shu Ha Ri Do. One of them is

Flex Fist Boxing as you can see I call it the “Code of the Flexing Fist. Why do

I call it that? First, it is actually a code of 5 different fist

placements/punches and pulling fists moving in a circular pattern.

However, not just “moving” in a circular pattern, but like the electrons in an

atom that actually disappear and reappear in a circular pattern so the fists

of Shu Ha Ri Do students in theory should do the same. Now, not that our

hands will actually disappear however, simply thinking this way and

visualizing an atom will cause quicker punches. In addition to the atom

philosophy there is are many drills that I teach in Flex Fist Boxing that

increase speed tremendously. In competition everyone is looking for an

edge, I know I was, my Flex Fist Boxing concepts are not a replacement for

conventional boxing I teach that as well, I can tell you however, that these

concepts will enhance your striking in a powerful way!
