Welcome to the Shu Ha Ri Do website. Although Shuhari is a Japanese word, Shu Ha Ri Do is influenced by Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Jeet Kune Do and other systems. The word Shu Ha Ri describes the stages of learning all the way to mastery. Shuhari roughly translates to imitation, creation, perfection. Please feel free to browse the 100's articles. Hello my fellow Wisdom Warriors, and as always may this post find you healthy, prosperous and wise. In the video below are two of my students exchanging technique in a light sparring session. Notice the footwork and smooth transitions from conventional boxing into a spinning back fist and other counter strikes multiple times in the match. These types of techniques are common within Shu Ha Ri Do philosophy. Merging the conventional with non-conventional, controlling combat through defensive and offensive bursts. This can be seen clearly within FLEX FIST BOXING. Well, now that I’ve given you an intro enjoy the video.

Greetings everyone, I hope this post finds you encouraged, inspired, and walking close with the Kingdom of Heaven. I present to you in this video two of my little proteges learning to discipline themselves through friendly combat. As always with any combat friendly or otherwise the Code I teach is wisdom first! In my teaching the more a student trains the more humble he or she becomes. The focus is always to master self to such a degree that you are able to overlook the majority of offenses. Unless in a competition combat then becomes only about protecting self and family from harm if it ever came to that. These two little proteges are well on their way to learning the Code.
Greetings everyone, although the “death touch” is the stuff of legend, it is based in truth and deals with a deep knowledge of the nerve centers (energy clusters) of the body. In this fictional scene Jean Claude Van Damme (as Frank Dux) demonstrates the “penetrating power” of the “death touch”. This is just a cool scene I decided to share. If you like martial arts and have not seen this movie, I consider it a must watch! It’s just one of those “cult classic” martial arts movies that everyone especially martial artists should see.
Such focus! Such intensity! Such control! Such dedication to discipline! No one can deny or minimize what such a foundation can do for children. Who will dare say that such training is not beneficial for their lives, just look at them!
Kung fu is one of the styles that influenced the creation of Shu Ha Ri Do. It is a big part of what I teach, and why I wear a Kung Fu uniform. To clarify, the reason you may see my students wear traditions gi’s is because my transition in the martial arts went from the hard styles of Karate to the soft styles of Kung Fu, to the creation of Shu Ha Ri Do. With that being said enjoy the video.
As I have mentioned before that Shu Ha Ri Do is a system that I created in 1998. Within the system there is an animalistic phase which is phase #4. Level #2 of phase #4 is the elephant phase. Just as with level #3 “the eagle/bird” students are encouraged to look at the useful qualities of an elephant as it relates to character and self defense.
The Elephant is an incredibly impressive and powerful animal. Much can be uncovered about it’s nature by observing it on a deeper level. If you are interested in hearing more about the unique concepts of Shu Ha Ri Do feel free to leave me a message in the comment section below!
Just a little 1 minute clip of segments from a Shu Ha Ri Do training day with inspiring music in the background. The lyrics are “every single day, I’m gonna make something great, that’s my way”. Indeed it has been my way for the last 28 years striving to live a lifestyle worthy of following. A Kingdom lifestyle. All of my passion for learning and sharing righteous knowledge culminating in the creation of Shu Ha Ri Do in 1998. Talk radio shows, speaking engagements, 4 books, and over 700 students since that time. So, once again my focus was and still is to create something great everyday. Even if it’s a small ripple of goodness in the life of someone else I’ll accept it!
Khabib has threatened to leave the UFC unless the apparent double standard stops. Obviously, I do not condone wreckless acts, however, in this video the You-tube channel host @joeingram1 investigates what has been missed by many about Conor’s behavior. There is more to the story, things are not what they seem. As you watch this video, think of everything that I teach and write about in reference to Shu Ha Ri Do. Think of the title of this blog “WARRIOR WISDOM”.
It is my view that all warriors should live by a code, that includes among other things honor, integrity, humility, and wisdom. Having a code is important because as warriors we are trained in combat strategies so as my slogan states “Wisdom Before Combat” is very important.
